Flax is an oil-bearing seed, which is commercially grown in Europe and North America. It originated in Asia Minor over 5000 years ago.

Flaxseed Oil is claimed to offer significant health benefits in the treatment of many diseases, including heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, and stroke. It has also been claimed to be effective in the treatment of asthma, multiple sclerosis, and skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

Flaxseed oil, mainly due to its high linolenic acid content, is extremely sensitive to heat, light and oxygen. Therefore, the oil must be protected from these elements in order to delay rancidity.
